BlockClaim · last updated 2 August 2026
BlockClaim is a dots-and-boxes game. It keeps the little it needs to let you play, keep your progress, and play against other people. There is no advertising, no third-party tracking, and nothing is sold or shared with anyone. It does count how often its own features are used, which is described below and is not tied to you.
What is kept
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| An account identifier the server generates for you | To recognise your device and hold your progress. It is a random string; it is not derived from anything about you. |
| The display name you choose | Shown to opponents in online games. You pick it; it defaults to something random like "Swift Fox". |
| Game record — games played, wins, streak, level, XP, Prisms | To show your progress and pay out rewards. |
| Cosmetics you own and have equipped | So the board looks the way you left it. |
| Your friend code and friends list | So you can be added by friends and invite them to play. |
| Which opponents you have beaten today | Kept for a day and then forgotten. It exists so two accounts cannot hand each other rewards over and over; it is a count, not a history of your games. |
| Maps you draw | Kept on your own device. A map is sent to a friend only when you invite them to play it. |
| A map you share with a code | Only when you tap Share. The map and the name you gave it are then stored on our server so that anyone you give the code to can load it, along with a note of which account shared it — that note is what lets deleting your account take the map with it. |
| Moves in a finished solo game | Replayed once by the server to check the result before paying out, then discarded. |
If you sign in with Google
Signing in is optional, and exists so your progress survives changing phone or clearing your browser. If you do sign in, the only thing kept is the opaque user id Google gives us for you — a number that means nothing outside this game. Your email address, your name, and your profile picture are not stored.
That id is held separately from your player profile, so the profile sent to other players and to your own device carries nothing that identifies you. The game knows which sign-in method an account uses; it does not put your Google identity next to your game record.
Signing out unlinks it immediately. Your progress stays; the connection to your Google account does not.
What is on your device
Your account token, a copy of your progress so the game starts instantly and plays offline, your settings, and any maps you have drawn. This lives in your browser's local storage. Clearing your browser data removes it — which is the reason signing in exists.
No cookies are used for tracking, and no third-party analytics or advertising code is loaded. The game counts how often its features are used — see below — and that counting happens on our own server.
Counting how the game is used
To decide what to build next, the game counts things like "a game was started", "the map editor was opened", "a friend was invited". Each of those is a name and at most one word saying which kind — "online", "win" — and it is added to a daily total on our own server.
Nothing identifying goes with it. No account, no session, no device, no ordering, no address. There is nothing in a counted event that could be put back together into what one person did, which is the point: the questions worth answering are whether anybody found the editor and whether online games get finished, and neither needs to know who.
No third-party analytics service is involved, and nothing about it leaves our server.
Who else sees anything
- Other players see your display name, and your friends also see whether you are online, in a game, or away.
- Google is contacted only if you tap the sign-in button, and only to check that the sign-in is genuine. Its script is not loaded before then.
- Fly.io hosts the server. They hold the data at rest on our behalf.
Nothing is sold, rented, or shared for advertising.
How long
Accounts are kept while they are in use. Server logs, which record connections and match results, are kept briefly for debugging and are not used to build any profile of you.
Deleting your data
Settings → Delete my account. It tells you what the account holds, asks once, and then erases it: the profile, any sign-in attached to it, and its place on other people's friends lists. Not hidden, not deactivated, and nothing is kept back. It cannot be undone.
Maps you have drawn stay on your own device, because that is where they live. Clearing your browser data removes those and everything else held locally. Any map you shared with a code is stored on our server, and deleting your account deletes those too — the codes stop working, which is the point. You can also withdraw a single map's code at any time and keep the account.
If you would rather ask than tap, or you have lost access to the device, email mole.tulip1879@eagereverest.com with your friend code.
Children
The game is suitable for all ages, but it is not directed at children under 13, and accounts are not knowingly created for them.
Changes
If what is kept ever changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top will say when.
